| Decision-making begins by applying Intelligence to create knowledge from information and data. The Knowledge is then analysed to create Wisdom that must be widely distributed to ensure it is applied by all. Who better than a former CIA Officer - U.S. Marine, ROBERT STEELE (Vivas), to share his unique concept with us of creating Wisdom from Knowledge using Open-Source Intelligence 24/7 in every language spoken in the world. | |||||

Video: ENERGY – at the Heart of every System From the brain, we move to the essence of all large-scale systems - ENERGY. No system can function without energy. Our world energy system is one of the most complex and least understood. All energy ultimately derives from the sun and from within the Earth in the form of fossil fuels, uranium, and geothermal. Dr. MORY GHOMSHEI is one of Canada's leading experts on all forms of energy from the Earth. His presentation will show that we need diverse energy systems to minimize impact on adjacent systems. |

| Video: The Environment and Energy | Dr. Robinson has extensive knowledge about the interactions between our energy and environmental systems. He serves on the U.N.'s International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2007. He will share his unique perspective on Climate Change and Energy with us. | ||||
| With our current energy supply so tied to the element Carbon, it is now believed that man-made emissions of Greenhouse Gases are responsible for Global-Warming. Dr. JOHN ROBINSON is a UBC Professor actively involved in the field of Resources and Sustainability. | |||||

Video: Poverty Alleviation
| Dr. MARCELLO VEIGA is an expert who has been working over the past 25 years to alleviate poverty and pollution in artisanal gold-mining camps around the world. He will share with us his views and experiences with respect to a systems approach to finding solutions. | |||||
| Video: Space Exploration – Earth's Saving Grace? | |||||
| We will end with the ultimate large-scale system – our Solar System and Outer Space. Driven by a military motive, Mankind successfully went to the Moon in 1969 and now we have robots exploring Mars. With our current economic strife, our need to manage climate change, and our desire to alleviate poverty, should we make a larger investment in space exploration? JOHN CHAPMAN is a Mining Engineer with extensive experience at many mine sites. Over the years, he has developed a strong interest and expertise in Space Research. John will present his views on why we must intensify our work in Space. The threat from Near-Earth-Objects may be as great, if not greater, than that of Climate Change and exploration of the Moon and Mars can provide better understanding about our planet and how we can sustain it and ourselves long into the future. Those who have travelled in Space return to Earth with a new spirituality about the place of Earth in the Cosmos. | ![]() |

Video: ROUND-TABLE Panel - a MANIFESTO on Strategies for Sustainability
| Moderator: JOHN MEECH After listening to these five inter-related, yet diverse presentations, the audience will be given the opportunity to feedback their questions, comments, and ideas in a Round-Table Panel discussion with a view to producing a Manifesto on Strategies for Sustainability. The outcome of this Workshop is intended to spark others to begin applying the knowledge gained about the innovative techniques we will share with you, to analyse and attempt to control large-scale systems such as these and others. |
